Are political and economic integration intertwined? is the new paper by Tommaso Frattinim with Bernt Bratsberg, Senior Research Fellow at Ragnar Frisch Centre for Economic Research in Oslo, Giovanni Facchini, Professor at the University of Nottingham, currently on leave from DEMM, and Anna Rosso, Assistant Professor at the University of Insubria and former Assistant Professor at DEMM.

 

 

The paper studies how economic incentives shape immigrants’ self-selection into candidacy. Differential returns to labour market experience between immigrants and natives affect the differential likelihood to run for office for the two groups.
